Gus

Lets first mention that I have an academic background in Graphic Design for the Web (Herzing College, Montreal), Marketing (McGill University, Montreal) and Construction Technology (Montreal Technical College).

My working experience has been in diverse industries and fields; nevertheless, let us focus on my last two jobs. I worked for few years in business development for a company in Montreal, where we provided conferences registration, housing and RFID services mainly to professional associations in USA such as: SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management), AIA (The American Institute of Architects), ENDO (The Endocrine Society), TESOL (Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages), AHA (American Heart Association), ADEA (American Dental Education Association), etc. This was an enriching experience where I learned a lot about the North American marketplace; taking into account that each of these associations has a different target market with a unique client profile. After this fantastic experience, I decided to follow my dream and work in a creative field, and web design was the field selected.

Following my graduation as a Web Designer, I worked for two years in a web agency in Montreal. Great learning experience and fantastic company to work with. I was in charge of close to 1000 accounts/websites in USA and Canada; where I had to do web design (custom or WordPress), graphic design with Photoshop and Illustrator, and content integration (wording, forms, images, logo, etc.). You may always see some of these websites on my web gallery. After these awesome two years I decided it was time to become independent and I started working as a freelancer in 2014.

I always liked cinematography and videography, and I was lucky enough to learn about it in high school back in my country of origin, Colombia. In 2015 I discovered a new passion, video editing. I also discovered its potentiality and the high demand for marketing videos today and the future due to social media; therefore, I learned by myself Premiere pro, After effects and video editing techniques following and completing a number of online courses intensively on Lynda.com. I have been editing videos since then non-stop, continue learning and improving my skills, and I hope I will be able to continue doing it as long as I can.

  • Please be advised that as much as I enjoy working as a freelancer, I am also open to work as an employee and willing to relocate or travel.
